Avik Mitra

Avik is the coolest cat in Calcutta and knows the streets like the back of his hand. Not only does he insist that Bengali food is the best in India, he knows where to find the best in town. Avik is the guide to show you the real Kolkata from ground zero. With this guy, you're in safe hands when you join his Kolkata food tour.

Kolkata is a city of intellectual curiosity and colourful mayhem. The streets are filled with bustle of everyday life – honking tuk tuks, holy cows, kids playing cricket, chanting chaiwallas and the call to prayer. It's also brimming with street eats and Bengali treats, but not all are made equal.

Join Avik on his Kolkata food tour and you'll be ducking and diving through alleyways and backstreets to find the city's finest joints known only to locals.

Starting on one of Kolkata's most famous lunch lanes, he'll lead you on a culinary journey to taste all things Bengali. Try devilishly good eggs, fried pakoras, classic tandoori chicken and the city's original kathi roll, all washed down with lashings of sweet drinks and syrupy desserts.  Food feasting doesn't get much better than this.

*Oh, hi there veggies, this one's definitely for you. We can happily swap out the meat to suit your palette, after all... this is India.

**Street food vendors take time off too, so we can’t promise every tour will be the same, but fear not, the day will always be packed with good stuff.
